Our Story:
Jenga Force Academy was born from a personal journey—and a dream much bigger than myself.
For years, I carried a vision of helping build Canada. I believe this country has the space, the resources, and the opportunity to ensure every family has access to a decent, safe, affordable home. But I also knew that vision would take more than building houses. It would take building people.
That is where our journey begins.
"Jenga" is Swahili for "Build." It reflects our belief that before we can build stronger communities, we must first build skilled people, meaningful careers, and lasting opportunities.
As a first-generation immigrant from a minority background, I found that entering the skilled trades was far harder than I expected. The industry offers real opportunity, but a clear path into it is rare—especially for someone starting over in a new country, without the network or connections others take for granted. The challenge was never just learning the trade—it was finding mentors, gaining real experience, and earning the trust it takes to work on an actual job site.
I lived that challenge firsthand. After enrolling in the Carpentry and Renovation Techniques program at Algonquin College, I was determined to build a future in construction. But getting accepted was only the beginning. Once I graduated, I quickly learned that a classroom education wasn't enough—like most graduates, I had to create my own opportunities to gain hands-on experience.
So I volunteered. I observed. I asked questions, and worked alongside professionals generous enough to share what they knew. Every renovation became a classroom. Every tradesperson on site became a teacher. Those lessons taught me things no textbook could.
One question stayed with me through it all: How can I make this path easier for the next person?
That question became the foundation of Jenga Force Academy.
Our vision
We built an academy where learning goes beyond the classroom. Our students learn by doing—working real renovation projects under the guidance of experienced professionals, building confidence and industry-standard experience along the way, so they graduate ready for meaningful work in the trades.
But our mission doesn't stop with our students. Every project we take on also changes a life beyond the Academy. As our trainees build their skills, they help renovate homes for low-income families, seniors, people with disabilities, and community organizations—turning every job site into two opportunities at once: one person gains the skills to build a future, and another family gains a safer, better place to live.
This is only the first step toward a larger dream: a Canada where skilled workers have real opportunities to thrive, communities grow stronger together, and every family has a place to call home.
Because when we build people, they build communities. And when we build communities, we build a stronger Canada.
If that's a future you want to help build—as a student, a partner, or a family in need of a renovation—we'd love to hear from you.
